Atlee Sen is an Indian film director and screenwriter who is primarily involved on Tamil Cinema. He is most well-known for his debut directorial film Raja Rani (2013) which was produced with Fox Star Studios and for which he was awarded the Vijay Award for Best Debut Director. He was an assistant director for the budget director S. Shankar for his movies Enthiran (2011) as well as Nanban (2012). After a highly successful first film, the trend continued with subsequent ventures, Theri and Mersal because the latter was financed by company Sri Thenandal Films. The actor made his Hindi directorial debut with Jawan which starred Shah Rukh Khan as the main character. The announcement that Thalapathy Vijay performing an appearance in the Jawan film became a hot topic. The images of Shah Rukh Khan as well as Vijay appearing in the Jawan movie became all over the web.
In 2013, he made his first directing debut through Raja Rani. The film was made by Fox Star Studios and AR Murugadoss. This was a romance comedy with Arya, Nayanthara, Jai, Nazriya Nazim and Sathyaraj. He was praised for putting together the incredible ensemble cast with ease in his first film. Raja Rani also gained a enormous success when it made more than 500million in the South Indian box office within just four weeks. The film also earned his the Vijay Award for Best Debut Director. His next film Theri is now among the top grossing Tamil films of 2016.
