Ramya Krishnan is also known as Ramya Krishna, is an Indian film actress. She has been in over 200 film productions that were made in five different languages which include Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi. Ramya Krishnan has gained popularity because of her role in the acclaimed film Neelambari on Padayappa in which she also received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. She also received Awards in the category of most outstanding supporting actor in Telugu for the 2009 drama Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam. She was a key character on The Liger film starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday as the main characters. Ramya Krishnan plays a key element of the superstar Rajinikanth’s film Jailer.
She is the daughter of the veteran Comedian (Tamil), Cho Ramaswamy. She started her training for Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi and Western dance forms. She has also performed numerous stage shows. She started acting in 1984, at 13 years old with the Tamil film Vellai Manasu. Ramya Krishnan’s debut Telugu film to be released was Bhale Mithrulu (1986). She became famous through Kasinadhuni Vijaya’s Sutradharulu in 1989.
Ramya Krishnan was an actor of prominence within the Telugu film industry along with Soundarya, Roja, Meena as well as Nagma in the 90s. Her breakthrough, she was able to make her mark through K. Raghavendra Rao directorial films in which she became the most commercial romantic diva for the season due to films that were successful like Alludugaru (1990), Allari Mogudu(1992), Major Chandrakanth (1993) alongside Mohan Babu, and Allari Priyudu (1993) alongside Rajasekhar. She played the lover to Sri Annamacharya, who was performed in the film by Nagarjuna in the blockbuster film Annamayya (1997). Then she acted in a variety of films. Her most recent movies include Baahubali: The Beginning, in which she portrayed Shivagami queen mother in addition to Soggade Chinni Nayana as she played Satyabhama as well. also played a pivotal part in the film of Allari Naresh Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu. The film received critical acclaim in her portrayal of Rajamatha’s sister in Baahubali’s The Conclusion.
